Add the possibility to make championships/tournaments.

championship: an number of defined tracks; to join is available only before the championship starts; you get points for your reached position of each race ... winner is the player with most points; here the handicap mode can be more useful

tournament: available for a huge amount of players; the creator can set the number of rounds, the max. number of players per round and how many player reach the next round (the number of groups of every round and the amount of players for this tournament is given by these facts); a round can have one or several races (like a small championship); to join is available only before the tournament starts

----

allow to switch the car within a session (of course only who meet the given restrictions); should be an option of the session to allow it

----

The system where the PI points come from is not so good, because this means if I want the maximum PI, I have to renounce to some visual parts (rims, tires, mirrors, ...). Please extract the visual parts (they should give no PI points like the mud guards) and add more technical parts.

Camber, Caster, Toe

Check this: http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html

Mid 90's I tinkered a lot with RC-car racing. I even lead a team for a while. :) I built the cars, and others raced with them (Smashed them.)  Anyways it was pretty serious competition. Had to have licenses from FIA and everything.
</memories>

Camber, caster, and toe were things we constantly talked about and tested several different setups. To make that damn car better to drive.

These settings are mostly there in the game, but named differently. (Some changes would be necessary.) But making it possible to mess with these settings directly would make the game more 'real world like.'

Maybe this is a bad idea.

In races where collisions are disabled cars should be transparent, while they are one inside the other: in that situation it's actually impossible to see the track, and you have to drive blindly.

Already on there, was suggested in CB.

Automatic Transmission Suggestion : I think the best way to resolve the issues with the automatic transmission is to allow more customability in regards to when the auto tranny shifts gears. Nothing too technical, just add a feature that allows players to specify at what speeds they want the trannys to upshift or downshift. Have to brackets for this setting... one for upshift and one for downshift. It will be an additional learning curve to those unfamiliar with how race cars work, but it will help improve the performance of the automatic transmission greatly.... and I'm sure there will be tutorials up in the forum in no-time with suggestions for newcomers regarding what to set your transmission shift speeds to.

In addition perhaps it would be a good idea to have a toggle option to toggle between speed settings or RPM settings... in case people feel more comfortable and "at home" setting their transmission shifts by RPM.

It would be nice to see sector times in rankings to(HOTLAP) , then you can see where you can improve yourself)

hi,

I don't know if anyone as already said this... why don't let the players to organize in teams, to race together with team members, to race against other teams. And then every month, for example, we can have a champions between teams with 2 players per team to fight for championship.

Another one could be a championship between the nations, a sort of world cup...

what do you think about???

:)

I'm pretty sure the devs said a while ago that they were planning something like this.

Have the option to take off ABS and traction control, it just makes the racing more realistic, and gives the player more to do than just steer and change gears, so they have to get use to accelerating properly out of corners so they don’t skid and tap the breaks so they don’t lockup.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

personally i have never seen my breaks lockup , where you get tire degregration and flat spots

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

another suggestion change the minimum race laps from 2 to 3 or higher, because at the current point most races are 2 laps and its get annoying that a race is over nearly as fast as it took to get it started, and it would mean that you would have to race more consistently to keep a good time over say 5 laps.

I don't think there's an ABS in this game: it has already happened that rear wheels have blocked in a brake (and made me lose control of the car in a bend); with an ABS this wouldn't have occurred.

Thereis no ABS or traction control. Try going out the corners fully, you'll slide and lose control.

There is most definitely some kind of stability control in play when the car is sliding - that's why they slow down so much and recover so quickly.

People tend to not like longer races for some reason, so they always pick 2 laps...

...this because you gain always the same Rx and gears, no matter how long was the race, so less laps means more races (and then more points) in the same time. ;)

like EK said until the devs increase the gain for running more laps, 2 laps will always be the most logical choice to most. I personally hope this issue is resolved soon as I think people who race longer races should be rewarded more. Plus longer races tend to allow racers to learn their rythems for each track better so I think promoting races longer than 2 laps would be nothing but benificial for the game and players alike.

There should be an option to invite friends to download Victory and join the game.

Grandstands/Crowds :   Even though the game is based in a post-apocolyptic time, I think they should add some grandstands to all the tracks since realistically even in post-doomsday times there would be crowds at an auto race. All the tracks have areas where a grandstand could realistically be imagined. Even though it's just a game, it is a bit depressing to race at a track with no spectators ;)

Even if there wasn't grandstands perhaps just add crowds of people at portions of the tracks standing around, sitting on hills or cliffsides, walking along the edge of the track, etc.

Facebook : You should be able to link your account to facebook in a way that posts your achievements and statistics/race results to facebook... with customizable settings to determine what gets posted and how often.

i would prefer not to have it posting things to facebook saying i am racing at 5:40 am when i should be asleep...

i vote focus on the racing, and not on the spamming friends with stuff on facebook :)

also, Please can we have a way to swap between 2 controller configs?

i sometimes have people round who want to play on Victory, but all of them complain about my wierd controller setup, and refuse to pick up the controls till i remap them them.

Having a way to swap between "control set 1" and "control set 2" would allow me to use my wacky dual-analogue-stick setup, and would allow them to use buttons (cause they are too lame to learn analogue controls).

i get so tired of remapping my controls when they come round, and then having to map them back again so i can drive properly when they leave.

(most GTA games have 2 entry fields for each control mapping, this option could also work for victory, and might be easier to implement)

eg:

Steering - method 1: Analogue X axis.     method 2: dpad left/right

Throttle/Brake - method 1: Analogue Y axis.      method 2: button 1/2

Do they have analog gamepads and just refuse to switch from buttons to analog? Or do they not have analog?

no, they are using my controller, and im sick of having to remap it all the time :(

I do think it's a good suggestion...

but on the other hand it shouldn't be expected of you to change your controller map just because some people don't have or use analog

+1 on a better controller setup.  Now I've got a wheel and a stick, I've got no way to choose between controllers as victory grabs the first one which turns out to be the wheel.  There's no way to reorder the controllers - they come in discovery order.  The workaround is to unplug the wheel.

There's a good writeup on controller ordering from one of the microsoft directinput ppl here.  This explains why the preferred controller setting doesn't work too.

Maybe the calibration window could have a controller dropdown.  The controllers are all detected in numen.log.

Being able to map the game keyboard shortcuts (like transmission, mirrors, recover) to the controller buttons would be good too.

I think the market needs a small redesign, especially the relation between PI and parts. I'm very concerned about the design of my car and it's often frustrating to know that in order to get the maximum PI you're practically forced to choose a certain steering,  tires or other parts that are not necessarily the ones that fit better on your car (depending on tastes of course).

This is a big limitation to the car editing tool. On one hand you provide wide customization but on the other you limit it with restricted choices (the higher your level, the less the parts available for upgrade).

I don't really have a suggestion now about how to change it, but I'll think about it :)

My suggestions:

1 - A 2s blackflag to both pilots for each touch in colision mode. This will prevent a pilot to blocking another on purpose.

2- Possibility  to create races with 5-10 laps.

3- The same lighting is used in each track. The sky is ever the same. Some variety should be good: dawn, sunshine, sunset, sépia, cloudy, night, rainy, foggy...

rain would be excellent, great idea :D (not just a lighting/graphics effect, it would need much less grip too)

also, longer races would be nice, but i think they are already working on that :)

also, black flags for ramming/crashing is a good idea, im sick of being smashed off the track by people who cant drive :(

The black flag for crashing is a tough one.  On one hand it makes sence to punish the retards, but on the other you have to rely on an algorithm the see whos "fault " the crash was.  Also with races so short, there is always going to be zero patience (ever see the last  two laps at Daytona? and those fellas are professionals)  What could be done is some type of vote kick after the race, possibly have some type of rating for drivers on how often they kicked to warn other others of possible jerk-heads.  Could even add an option to limit the room to drivers with only positive rating.

Cow's 2¢

I agree with CowRocket, and in fact old messages from the devs showed that they were (and are) working on a karma system which is a lot like your suggestion, with karma points based on how often you crashed, votes, etc. and the possibility to limit the race to people with "good" karma!

I didn't like the idea to limit races... limit campionship invitations sounds better (amateur = free allowance/ professional = restricted to good drivers).

Actually, there is a 7s blackflag due excessive crashing. IMO it's not good enough. IRL if a car touch another in a race, both of them loose time. Small touchs in long straights must be avoided at all costs. And a touch while overtaking in a slow corner can damage both cars. As the game actually recognize when a car hits another, I know it's a possible improvement. So, I reinforce my suggestion.

But I agree with one point: it's nonsense to set collision on in short races. But it's a good simulation option to a 10 laps race, I think.

I would like to see an even older class..... like 40' cars , at the beggining of f1 . Something like Spirit of Speed 1937 game ( cars and tracks ) .

Also i've wondered what would be like if hotlap game mode would give everywone 0PI (no setup) cars so you can see how good/bad driver are you , and evet download ghost of friends and recordholder  laps to see where to improve . Also i would like to see longer/endurance races like 15-20 minutes or beyond that .

The game needs a better gear ratio setup . For example in F1 at the end of the longest straight you need to be at highest rev at highest gear (at some short tracks this is impossible ) , and in the gear 1 at the lowest corner . Bring some tactic in the game besides point distribution and setup , like   tire changes , or even fuel ( like f1 or  new star gp ) . Damage would be nice , affecting your performance and even team racing .

Mys Suggestions:

#1: Create Tracks Mode

#2 : Create Teams or Clans mode ,

#3: Real tracks in game , but post-apocalypic style

#4: Add speedway tracks in third type of tracks (speed formula , I think)

Black flag + collision ON -idea:

I think the car that takes black flag should change to ''collision off' for the penalty time. So the drivers behind could just drive through. The current way the car that gets BF just 'stops' in front of you and in most cases you can't avoid collision.

The 2nd way, maybe even better way, could be to give the poor blackflagger 5- second delay before the penalty hits. So he doesn't stop in the middle of the chicane, but get's a good heads up about coming speed penalty, so he has some time to give way to the drivers behind.

+1 on collision off for BF.  straight away though - someone who knows they're going to get a penalty may not take it that well.

I'd think about doing it for wall collisions too.  Corners like the first one on A1-red could easily cause a consertina effect.

Widget detector: add a white line in each tyre. If the pilot is using a widget value between +1 to +10, +11 to +20 and +21 to +30, the line turns respectively to yellow, orange and red, symbolizing a "faster equipment".

Thanks for you suggestion, I find this one something I would like to be added to the game too ;)

Do you think that maybe you should remove from the first post the ideas that VV has said they're already planning to implement? It's a really long post, and that might make it more readable... or move them to a different section or something...

layer system in Vinyl creation... do it do it NAOW (i am so sick of the tinkering i constantly need to do..)

Already in the works.

This might be a bit of an overkill, but what the heck.

Race log

This already exists. I'd just like to see more stuff there, and have a possibility to save them logs at will.

What I'd like to see is:

  • Track, ie.  "A1 Green"
  • Car class
  • Drivers, their levels and PI.
  • Final positions, times, and top speeds. Fastest lap marked out somehow.
  • My all lap times, from checkpoints too. And the top speed from each lap.
  • Maybe a list of happenings during race, Black flags, take overs, collisions, etc.. Some of this is already there.
  • All the personal achievements, notifications, (Last lap, personal best, someone got blackflag, new achievement, etc.)
  • Button to save the whole thing at will.
  • And a check box to options "Always save racelogs".
  • And another checkbox to turn off all popup messages during race.

This would make easier to put up events.

Makes any sense?

And since I feel so creative at the moment:

A clock!

Ultra simple clock somewhere in the UI showing local time (from Client computer)  and "Official RA time" (Italia).

:)

Customizable UI/HUD

The idea is to be able to customize the Ui/HUD as much as possible. Not only should you be able to choose what does and doesn't show up on your HUD... but you can also customize what it looks like in many ways. Sizes of each feature, colors, shapes, styles, customizable alerts and notifications. Personally I feel that a lot of the less important info is too big such as best lap times, which only needs to be checked once per lap, while some of the most important info such as intervals, which need to be checked several times per race, is in tiny easily overlookable font. So I definitely would like the opportunity to customize it to my liking and I'm sure this would add a unique aspect that very few other racing games provide.

In addition the UI needs to be optimized and smoothed out to make it stop lagging the game during races.

new to the game. and i didnt see an entry for it. Frame-Rate Limiter. in the last hour that i did manage to play, at the lobby screen i get 266+ fps, lowres racing 166+fps and basic backdrop load screens 400+fps and thats my two cents

You can find V-sync option in the "Configure" screen, accessible from the launcher. Still, is not working 100% for me (by activating it loading screens are a lot slower for example), but you can give it a try.

I have it disabled because its just generally terrible for me on any game. :s

that did it. bought down to 60fps. floats a little but better than doing 200fps

Different colors for Gear Credits and Race Points.

I think a much clearer graphic differentiation is needed between GC and RP because it can easily cause confusion, especially for new comers. One first step would be to make the two icons in different colors (they're now both red). Plus I would add all the explanatory information about GC, RC, RX, WP and VG in the Help screen (F1).

It's important to have a much more complete Help Guide in the game and it could be also a good idea to add an extra icon to reach the Help tutorials somewhere in the lobby or wherever you think is best, just to have a visual alternative to pressing F1 which can be not that obvious for some people.
